AEB: Russian car, LCV sales fall 13% to 111,145 units in Feb
MOSCOW, Mar 10 (PRIME) -- Sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) in Russia decreased 13.4% on the year to 111,145 units in February, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said Thursday.
“The pace of year-on-year decline is slowing down visibly, with minus 13% to the smallest value in 14 months. This is an expected and welcome development, much of it being attributable to the low volume base of last year. Now spring season is approaching, and this is usually good news for car sales. So the coming weeks will show in what shape consumer demand really is these days,” Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee, said.
Sales of Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ fell 19% on the year to 19,035 units in February, the AEB also said. In January–February, the company’s sales decreased 16% on the year to 34,612 cars.
